Out of Office – Happy New Year

Each day I like to jot a few words here. Mostly the Blog centres on my interest of small sailing boats. Now and again I delve into different topics; some that tell of my family, friends, wider acquaintances, or things that make their mark because of their topical nature or subject content.

Over the next few days, if all goes to plan, I shall be travelling to Mexico for a stay at a hotel with a beach front facing the Atlantic. One of the activities offered there is sailing beach catamarans; therefore I shall want to explore the possibility of sailing one, but whether I shall be up to it or not remains to be seen. The prospect of sailing a boat that is capable of flying a hull fills me with trepidation. I am no longer the young athletic lad of my youth who thought it fun to walk up and down the sliding seat of a Hornet dinghy as it planed the waters of Torbay, nor am I the young man who frequently single-handed GP Fourteen dinghies for the joy of being on the water alone. Instead, I’m the codger who is building a roof rack keelboat that will require no athletic prowess, dexterity or sharp reactions in order to keep the boat upright. If I can sit in a comfortable seat, facing forwards and use my feet to steer the boat while holding the sheet at the same time, I should be capable of sailing her.

Well, as I shall be away from my desk for the next fortnight, with no guarantee that I shall be able to access the Internet every day, you may find the same page appearing on your screen. If that’s the case, please bear with me, until I can resume my regular postings.

Meanwhile, I wish all my readers a happy and prosperous new year.
