'Minnow's' Hatch and Window Mounts

I’m not going into detail, but I had a laborious afternoon and evening preparing the hatch for sheathing and the window inset frames for painting. I have two more frames to prepare. Removing the old silicone sealant was a time consuming business.

Hello Bill, your situation reminds me of the Confucian saying 'the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step'. You look to be doing a great job, there are no obvious short cuts or labour saving ideas I can offer with the removal of silicone sealant. It's just pure hard slog. If there are any crumbs of comfort, they'll be that because it was so difficult to do, you'll be in no hurry to repeat the experience, and consquently will make a 'proper-job' of it, as they say in Cornwall.

Richard,

I was born and lived in the West Country; therefore the saying a 'proper job' is a familiar sentiment. My parents taught me that if a job is worth doing, it is worth doing well!

Cheers,
Bill.
