Every Little Helps

Shaping slab

Cleaned joins

'Pike'

Not a great deal was achieved today on building the patio, but ‘every little helps’. I had time for tidying the joins between the slabs laid yesterday and for cutting to shape a slab that will be fitted by the steps to the patio.

Basically, that’s it. Maybe I’ll be able to make more progress tomorrow.

I know this doesn’t make scintillating reading; however, when the patio is finished I shall turn my attention to ‘Pike’, a subject I think most readers will be interested in.

Bill,

At least you have some good tools for slab cutting -- beats a lump hammer, luck, and a bolster chisel any day!

Looking forward to your new adventures on-board Pike.

Hello Bill, Stephen Mundanes remarks about suitable tools are pertinent indeed. Its always the little details that take the longest to achieve, but youre mostly there, no need to rush with the weather as it is. Next week itll probably improve, then we can learn how you get on with Pike.

Stephen,

The cutter is certainly better than the tools you describe. I could really do with a cutter that has a larger blade, but I'll make do if I can. There will be an awful lot of cutting on the final row of slabs.

Yes, I'm looking forward to a sail with Pike.

Cheers,
Bill.

Richard,

There are some fiddly bits to shape before the patio will be finished. I'll have to be patient.

You can be sure I'll give an account of how I get on with Pike.

Cheers,
Bill.
