Images from Wimbledon – Part 3

The finals for the men’s and ladies’ singles at the All England Club are over. I was hoping for plenty of action in the ladies’ match on Saturday, but Petra Kvitova easily beat Eugenie Bouchard in two straight-sets. Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic on the other hand were very equally matched which brought about spectacular action this afternoon in a five set final, resulting in a win by Djokovic.

Hello Bill, while you were no doubt enjoying the tennis, I be-took myself over to Grafham Water sailing club to inspect 'Sandpiper'. The chap who runs the chandlery there is conducting the sale on behalf of the owner. She really is a lovely boat, and your hard work on the centreboard case, and one or two other areas is well evident. I particularly like your mod on the cooker, with the fiddle.
However, she's not the boat for me, the centre board caseis far too intrusive for me, and at fifteen and a half stone, I'm a bit too big to get in and around her. It's a real testament to your tenacity that you did the voyage that you did in her last year.

Hello again Bill, I just read your reply to my other comment.
The item number for the Bolger Micro is 271533769736, but the auction is over now as the seller sold her on Gumtree. I don't know wether or not you'll be able to view her retrospectively?

Hi Richard,

I was able to see the Bolger Micro on Ebay. The archive is still there.

'C' Type West Wight Potters were designed for gnomes and dwarfs! At five foot eight, and ten and a half stone, I had a job to enter 'Sandpiper's' cabin. The easiest way was to enter backwards, place my left foot on the floor followed by my right, then sit on the port bunk. That was it.

Cheers,
Bill.

Haha, I thought there had to be some knack! The pity of it is she's such a good honest boat.
Was you impressed with the Bolger Micro? I 'googled' it and got a host of different impressions. An outstanding example, to me at any rate, was featured on on one of Dylan Winters 'Keep-turning-left'videos, on the river Deben. She's junk rigged, and the guy made the sails out of polytarp!! That really warmed the cockles of yourd truly's ecomonomically minded heart, and has minded me to look more closely at the junk rig.
