‘Ragged Robin 111’

‘Ragged Robin 111’ is a 6 ton centre cockpit Hillyard sloop built in 1951 that once belonged to Arthur Ransome. She was built for him and his second wife Evgenia and was given the name ‘Lottie Blossom’ after a character in Evgenia’s favourite book, ‘The Luck of the Bodkins’ by P. G. Wodehouse. Sadly, although Arthur commissioned Hillyard to build her, he discovered he disliked her centre cockpit and wheel steering, and as a result, after only clocking up 200 nautical miles, he sold her. Her new owner renamed her ‘Ragged Robin 111’.

Well, yesterday I had a short chat with the current owners of ‘Ragged Robin 111’ and I took the accompanying photos.
