Continuing the theme of small ocean sailboats, here are photos of three that have succeeded in crossing the Atlantic.

Bill Dunlop crossed the Atlantic, west to east, aboard his 9’ ‘Wind’s Will’ in 1982. Tragically he was lost at sea in 1984.

Tom McClean sailed his 7’ 11” ‘Giltspur from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Oporto, Portugal in 1983.

Another Tom, Tom McNally did a west to east crossing of the Atlantic in his 6’ 10” ‘Big C’.

These boats were primarily designed for downwind sailing.
