I have been a recreational sailor for many years, with a particular interest in small sailing craft; therefore much of the content of my 'blog' will be related to this subject.

Trident 24
I recently took photos of three Trident 24 yachts, all moored at Hullbridge, on the River Crouch. A dodger of one has come adrift; perhaps this happened during recent high winds.
Alan F. Hill designed the Trident in the early 1960s and I believe I’m right in saying the earlier ones were made in 1962 by the Marine Construction Ltd., of Southampton. Later, Tridents were manufactured by Marcon Marine, and I think production by that company ceased in 1980.
The earlier ones had wooden superstructures and GRP hulls that were fitted with a central lifting keel. Marcon Marine offered a GRP version, either with a fin keel or a triple keel - every vessel met Lloyds specification for materials and construction. Altogether, between 1960 and 1980, 150 Tridents were built - some in kit form, and others as completed yachts.
If you are looking for a ‘traditional’ yacht, one that has a classical appearance, then a Trident 24 may be the answer.

Hi Bill
ReplyDeleteNice Trident pics. Any idea what the first two boats are called?
Would you mind if I add them to the Trident 24 Album? The album is an attempt to assemble pics of every one of the 250 Trident 24s ever made? 165 so far.
